I had to put Sarah to sleep yesterday.
In the end it was an easy decision. She was in so much distress. The treatment from the vet had no effect, and she just got worse and worse. My lovely vet gave her some anaesthetic gas first, so she went to sleep before they stuck the big needle in, and then just drifted away peacefully. No more fighting for every breath. I'm sure now she's at the Rainbow Bridge (where all pets go when they die) with her good mates Wilma, Phoebe and Lara. The gang of four are re-united.
On the happy subject front, I FINALLY got my new fic started, for about the twentieth time. I find that if the beginning doesn't work for me, I have to give up and start again. But I now have two or three pages of platform to build on, so I'm on a roll! Of course, I roll very slowly, so it may be a while in the writing ;o)
And if anyone on the planet hasn't read Heat Stroke by Starlet2367, go there now and do yourself a favour! It will be up at her site shortly - this link here will take you to the home page, then just click on the Angel link. This story is haunting me days after I read it. You rock, Kel!
