Thanks, Amazon!
Jan. 6th, 2006 12:36 pmAnd I mean it. Yes, you all may remember my issues with those crooks DVDSoon.com, who are still trading, even though they've obliterated my store credit.
But I had a good experience yesterday with Amazon, and in a world where we seem to moan about everything, I thought I'd share this as an example that not everyone is hopeless LOL.
I pre-ordered Serenity from Amazon in December, and it was shipped two days before the "in-stock" date, which was brilliant. Of course, Christmas post held it up and it finally arrived yesterday. Hooray! Until I opened the box and found that although the packing slip said Serenity, I'd received Must Love Dogs (John Cusack/Diane Keaton). So I grumped and grumbled and duly went online and filled in the returns form. More grumbling when I realised the returns label was only postage-free within the USA. However, within 30 minutes I had an email from Amazon apologising profusely for the error, and advising that since the cost of returning the incorrect item from New Zealand was quite high, I could keep it, and they were shipping me my copy of Serenity straight away. Which is brilliant, because hubby is a big John Cusack fan. So, a free DVD for my troubles. Not bad.
I know people who have had some unsatisfactory experiences with Amazon, but this was great customer service and I am really impressed.

Date: 2006-01-06 03:13 am (UTC)The greatness of Amazon was illustrated to me when I ordered SG Season 5 from them. I'd been waiting 9 months for it to turn up from DVDSoon. It was only a couple of dollars more at Amazon, and I had it in a week. And then of course the one I'd ordered from DVDSoon showed up 3 days later  but at least I was able to sell it and recoup my money.
