I love my country. It's small, eccentric, quirky. New Zealand is an Aquarius, apparently.

Item on this morning's local news. Police in - oh, somewhere like New Plymouth, can't remember where - came across a rabbit in the middle of the road, while tracking a suspect. They arrested the bunny for loitering, and locked it in a cell at the local police station until it could be safely delivered to the RSPCA.

My favourite story of all time was about a small rural town who wanted a new fire engine for their local volunteer fire brigade. The men campaigned long and hard, and after years of struggle, the Fire Service delivered them a new, shiny engine. But - disaster - it was too big, and wouldn't fit in the fire station! So they took turns at taking it home and stashing it in their barns. The Fire Service tried to take it back, and the men chained themselves to the appliance. I think they won, in the end. Had to build a new fire station though.

Then there's the advert on the radio that always makes me giggle. It's for a car windscreen repair company. Their cheery little slogan (which they sing all through the commercial) is "show us your crack!". Heee hee hee!

On the down side, people have started dropping dead in Dunedin. Bit scary. One minute they are fine, then they start to feel unwell, and BAM!, gone within hours. Bleeding in the lungs. Three people in the last week have died, and they have no connection or relation to each other. Haven't met, been the same places, or done the same things. So far they've almost ruled out something contageous, but everyone is at a loss as to the cause. Eek, I hate things like that. I couldn't watch The Stand. It freaked me out.

I have felt like hell all week. Tired, achy, sore eyes, everything is too much of an effort. One of the boys at work has glandular fever - hope I haven't caught it. If it persists through to next week, I am going to the doctor. I also have a toothache! Owch! I hate going to the dentist, mostly because it's gonna cost me at least $500, which we can ill afford to pay after the car debacle of June/July. I must go, but not until I feel a bit better. I can't stand the thought of someone drilling my teeth at the moment, I feel like a raw nerve all over. Someone pass the vitamin C...
