Comet McNaught
Jan. 25th, 2007 11:17 pmCurrently gracing our skies is the brightest comet recorded. A week ago it was visible in broad daylight. It's fading as it moves away, but is still visible to the naked eye at twilight, and for a while after sunset. I tried to get a photo but my little digital camera didn't cope. My sister's, however, did - kind of. She had to tweak the brightness and contrast, but I thought this effort was pretty good considering she took the shot from her own garden, and there's a good deal of light pollution nearby.
It won't be back for another 300,000 years, apparently. Some lunatic actually worked out how many shopping days that represented. *eyeroll*
