Rober Palmer died. That makes me sad :o(

On a happier note, I am now the proud owner of 10 solar garden lights. Now all I need is some sunshine to charge them up (yep, still raining!)

And now (tadaa), borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] rheanna27...

1. I am 33 years old, 5"2', and weigh seven and three-quarter stone.
2. I was born in Croyden, England.
3. I came to live in New Zealand when I was two, but have been back to the UK 5 times. I am happy that my parents chose here instead.
4. I have very short hair, because I can't be bothered doing anything with it in the mornings (short of wiping a bit of "mud" in it so it sticks up a bit).
5. When I was a kid, I wanted a dog so badly I pretended to be one, and used to curl up on a blanket and make my sister take me for walks.
6. Now I can't stand dogs.
7. I married my first boyfriend.
8. I was single until I was 21.
9. I have 6 pet rats, and two budgies.
10. At the start of the year, I had 11 rats. It's been a sad year.
11. I work as a Print Supply Specialist for a major bank. That's a fancy way of saying I make sure we have enough paper and envelopes. I am in charge of the stock for the whole bank though, so it's pretty responsible work.
12. I fell into my job by default - the guy who was supposed to do it left the management in the lurch, so they asked me to do it because I pick things up quickly. I think I'm good at what I do.
13. I'm very anal, which is good in my line of work.
14. I used to work in a branch, which I grew to hate. People think if you are in customer service, that's a licence to be rude to you.
15. My School Cert subjects were Maths, English, Science, Economics, Music, Clothing.
16. I got 94% for English. It was scaled down from 97%.
17. I only got 59% for maths, and that was only because I showed my working out. I don't think the actual answers were correct!
18. I studied level 1 Travel Consultancy, but never went down that career path (the pay was shit).
19. I never went to University, despite being in the top A-stream class at school.
20. I don't regret not going to University.
21. The time I can remember feeling absolutely, perfectly happy was my 1994 holiday to Club Med with my hubby (then my boyfriend). It was blissful and sunny.
22. I have a sister who is three years younger than me.
23. I am closer to my mother than my father.
24. My Dad is becoming his father, which is a bad thing. His father was a grumpy, selfish old man.
25. Grampy did give me one great piece of advice - If you worry, you're going to die, if you don't worry, you're going to die anyway.
26. I am a compulsive worrier.
27. I like to make lists.
28. My maternal grandfather was a fireman in the Blitz in London. He save the dome of St Paul's cathedral from burning down.
29. My parent's house was haunted by the ghost of my paternal grandmother for many years after her death, at the time of year she died. Stuff kept moving around, people woke up with the feeling that someone was sitting on their bed... that kind of thing. My mother reckoned it was Grandma doing housework.
30. I own my own home (with my husband). I saved the entire deposit myself.
31. I have been fixing the terrible mess that is my garden. It's very hard work, but so rewarding.
32. I am freaked out by germs.
33. I have been a science fiction/fantasy fan since I was little. I own all 14 of the Wizard of Oz books, I loved the Chronicles of Narnia, The Faraway Tree series, books about dragons, and a series of 7 books by a Finnish writer called Tove Janssen about little hippo-like creatures called Moomintrolls. They lived in a world of sprites and fairies. I saw Star Wars at the movies when I was 6.
34. Now, I own seasons 1-6 of Buffy and 1-3 of Angel on DVD.
35. My fandoms have been, in order: Star Trek: Voyager, Buffy, Angel.
36. I have only recently discovered what fandom was!
37. The first story I wrote was called Mool The Mole. I was about 9. My teacher kept a copy of it to show future classes what was possible if they applied themselves!
38. The first fanfiction I ever participated in (although I didn't know it was fanfiction at the time) was stories about Duran Duran.
39. I will never read them again. They are truely terrible.
40. Nevertheless, I shall never throw them away.
41. I discovered fanfiction when I got the internet.
42. I discovered the Whedonverse when my sister insisted I watch an episode of Buffy. I whined on and on about having to sit through "that crap".
43. It was 'The Zeppo', and I loved it.
44. I started watching Angel because Buffy had finished its current season. In New Zealand, they alternated Buffy with Angel. We got Angel S1 after Buffy S5. Angel was just a fill-in for me until Buffy came back.
45. I was so excited to see Cordy turn up in 'City Of' because I wanted to see Buffy characters.
46. By mid-season I liked Angel as much as Buffy.
47. Although I have hundreds of eps of Voyager on video, I am not compelled to write fanfic about it.
48. I wrote my first fanfic last year, after reading a lot of crap and thinking I could do better. Deja Vu was crap, until Laurie slapped me around mercilessly and I learned what I was supposed to be doing.
49. The only film I have ever cried at was Watership Down. I was little, and it scared the shit out of me. I bawled like a baby during the Buffy epsiode 'The Prom', and also during the final episode of 'Robin of Sherwood' Series one. Oh, I lie. I cried all the way through Project X - but that was on the TV, not in the cinema.
50. To date I have never thrown up at a movie, although I have agorophobia, so now I want to throw up whenever I go to a movie!
51. Three eighties movies which everyone my age has seen and I haven't: Revenge of the Nerds, Pretty in Pink, Nightmare on Elm Street.
52. The achievement of which I am most proud is passing my driver's licence practical exam when I was 21. I was so scared, I thought I would faint. I had 16 lessons and I was still crap.
53. I think (to quote Billy Connolly) that anyone who desires to be a politician should be immediately banned from becoming one.
54. I was in England in 1995 for the 10 million pound lottery draw.
55. I didn't win.
56. Lotto is much more expensive to buy in England, and harder to win (more numbers to get right), but the rewards are much greater.
57. I went to meet John Taylor from Duran Duran when I was in England in 1991. I crawled along a footpath in Battersea on my hands and knees, and hid behind his car. It was totally worth it.
58. If I could spend an hour talking to anyone currently alive, it would be David Boreanaz. Actually, I'd probably just sit there dribbling.
59. I don't think I will ever be a vegitarian. God gave me incisors for a reason.
60. I am still waiting for my biological clock to start ticking.
61. I have been to four weddings in my adult life. Only one of those couples is still together.
62. I remember the advent of FM radio, it was terribly exciting.
63. I bought my first CD in 1987. Then I had to go out and get a CD player. Dad's stereo didn't have the right holes in the back to plug it in, so then I had to get a new stereo!
64. Even five years ago I could not imagine owning a mobile phone or a computer.
65. When I was little, I thought being very hungry meant you were 'vanished'.
66. If I could live anywhere, I would choose right here in New Zealand. With frequent trips to the Gold Coast of Australia.
67. I stopped eating my own boogers when I was four. I got a violent tummy bug and thought it was because I ate some snot.
68. The first single I ever bought was Last Christmas by Wham!. The first album I bought was Make It Big by Wham!, and the first CD I bought was Notorious by Duran Duran.
69. I have always loved Islands In The Stream by Kenny and Dolly. I am not ashamed. My most hated songs are Send In The Clowns, The Rose, and Don't Cry For Me Argentina.
70. My favourite song now is White Flag by Dido. I love her stuff.
71. The last CD I bought was Hotel Paper by Michelle Branch.
72. The last song I listened to before writing this was Dreaming In Metaphors by Seal.
73. I am quite musical and can work out the bass-line to just about any song. I played bass in a band for several years, which is how I met my husband - the drummer.
74. I hate herbal tea. I drink 2-3 cups of English Breakfast a day. I love the smell of coffee beans but don't like the taste of coffee (unless it's in a soft-centered chocolate).
75. I am a shower person, baths are too much hassle.
76. I am an owl, not a lark.
77. Three things I like that most people I know don't: rats, wasabi flavoured tuna, Angel.
78. Newspapers and magazines: I read the TV guide on the loo. And Netguide. Newspapers are too big and piss me off.
79. I currently have a B12 and folate deficiency.
80. I can recite all of Jabberwocky.
81. I can't eat breakfast on week days. I have a cup of tea and some biscuits, then scoff and sandwich, a muesli bar and some crackers at about 10am.
82. I had all my wisdom teeth removed before I was 20. They were all removed under anaesthetic because my jaw was too small to accomodate them.
83. I have broken one bone - my middle toe. Damn, it hurt.
84. I learned that there is nothing you can do to fix a broken toe.
85. I love material possessions. I love my jewellery from my parents, my DVD's, my photo albums, my car...
86. I can ride a bike, and I was a good roller skater. In my teens, for about two years, I spent every Sunday afternoon at Skatelands, going round and round while watching the latest videos on the giant screen.
87. I can knit really, really well, fancy patterns, multiple colours, you name it. I can also crochet, sew and cross-stitch.
88. I wish I had more time to do it.
89. I once won $100 for making a banner and taking it to the cricket.
90. My hands are getting tired with all this typing.
91. I have a thing about stationery. Especially coloured pens. One of my suppliers just gave me a flash pen with a stamp in the end with my name on it.
92. My handwriting is not great - but when I print it's very neat. I can't do joined up to save my life, never could.
93. I hate it when people misuse 's and can't distinguish between breathe and breath.
94. I hate conflict.
95. My bra size is ... actually I don't know. It's 32A I think. At least I know gravity won't drag 'em down any time soon!
96. I drink one glass of wine a night,
97. I don't drink spirits.
98. My ambition is to have the time to indulge in my hobbies.
99. My husband is drumming to try to make me leave the computer alone.
100. I love to shop!!!

Wow, quite a list! Well done, Claire. My 3 children adored The Faraway Tree and I had great fun reading it to them. I just love the idea of all those lands. There's now a BBC animated version but you can't beat the book.

I'm a big Enid Blyton fan from waaaaay back. My first obsession in fact was probably The Famous Five I wanted to be George. I even wrote to her and got a PC in return. Now that dates me 'cos she died a very long time ago. I was very young at the time.

And Moomin too. I haven't seen the stories but I love the cartoon. Nicely surreal.

They made a Moomin cartoon? Why have I never discovered this before!? Hooray!

I just loved the final book, where they left their home to go live on an island where there was a lighthouse, and a very mysterious cold creature that lurked the island, freezing everything it sat on. Just a little dark and scary (for a kid's book)...

But then I always did love books like Which Witch and The Ghosts of Motley Hall :o)
