Good Grief
Dec. 2nd, 2003 09:09 amTips for summer.
I just found out (on breakfast TV, no less) that mozzie repellant makes your sunscreen not work. What idiot made that blunder? And what about the sunscreen you can buy with insect repellant in it? In any event, apparently it reduces your sun protection by about 30%. Good to know.
Also, you can get burned through untreated glass. Which solves the age old mystery of why I always get one arm browner than the other in the summer, even though the car window is seldom open. Huh.
Oh, and for those that have been following the saga of my sore stomach:
The biopsy results from my colonoscopy showed "non-specific inflamation", and raised white blood cell levels. The list of what could cause that was long and boring. It's not Chron's (phew), but is possibly a very mild form of colitis. In any event, seeing as it's mostly minor and non-conclusive, we're going with the 'wait and see' option. The doc was sure it wasn't my appendix. I'm still dubious. Anyway, we'll see what a good rest over Christmas does to fix it.
That is all.

Date: 2003-12-01 09:30 pm (UTC)As for the sunburn theory, I've always hated that you get even more burnt on overcast days than you do in full sun. Although, in this country? You can get burnt underneath five layers of lead in the shade. In winter. Yup.

Date: 2003-12-01 11:40 pm (UTC)And I hear ya about the sunburn! It's shocking here. You can burn in 11 minutes. Except if you're me. I don't change colour, however long I stay in the sun. I just stay white. Takes about two weeks of constant exposure to get any sort of a tan going :pout: And the fake tan I tried last week was a disaster. Durn English skin!
