Happy New Year!!
Jan. 1st, 2004 11:18 amStolen from everyone!
Reasons why 2003 didn't suck
1. My wonderful online friends. You all know who you are. You're the main redeeming feature of my year, because the rest was pretty horrible.
2. Fanfic. I wrote some, I even won an award for one, and the feedback made my year.
3. My hubby, who has showed himself to be sweeter and lovelier than I ever thought he could be.
4. My free car, thanks to the generous gift of inheritance money from my mother.
5. Our house went up in value almost 40%, enabling us to do some things we never thought we could.
6. I realised my lifelong dream of seeing Duran Duran live in concert. Even now my brain can't comprehend that I actually went. I've spent so long accepting I would never see them, it's hard to replace that with the new information!
Reasons why 2003 did suck
1. Family deaths. I lost 7 pets and 2 grandparents. Four of those happened over 4 consecutive days.
2. My health has been dodgy. I've had nasty exploratory procedures done on me, with no conclusive outcome.
3. My job has been super-stressful, and the hours have been long. I normally do a 9 hour day with no breaks, just to keep marginally on top of things, whereas last year I had time to sneak in a little fanfic writing. It does not make for a healthy life-balance.
New Years Resolutions
Basically I've decided I just need to chill, to not sweat the small stuff. So what if the living room is messy? It's not the end of the world! I'm going to stop putting so much pressure on myself. And get more sleep.
