Poor wee birdy
Mar. 21st, 2004 03:49 pmMy budgie Linus has had a bad day.
First with the vomiting. Stuck all over his feathers. Then with the puffing up and looking like shit. Then with Harry (his girlfriend) grabbing him by the beak and flinging him off the perch (she's not very nurturing!).
So off to the vet we went, where he was grabbed by a big scary man, had the end of his overgrown beak cut off, had a long tube stuck down his throat, followed by a mouthful of vile medicine. He has 'sour crop' which is basically an overgrowth of bacteria in his poor little tummy.
So now he's in a nice warm room, covered in budgie-sick and medicine and blood (from where his beak bled after the trim). And for the next week or so I have to man-handle him and squirt medicine down his neck twice a day. I predict he'll resist this with great gusto. I hope he gets better. I love my little Linus, and all his little funny sayings (like "whoops, sorry" when I knock the cage). I would be gutted if he didn't get well.

Date: 2004-03-20 09:06 pm (UTC)Linus says "I love you Harry". Of course, you're not Harry, but he doesn't know how to say Katy...
He's watching cricket in my bedroom. He doesn't look quite as dire now, thank goodness. Hopefully the medicine will work fast.

Date: 2004-03-20 08:43 pm (UTC)That's so cute. My grandma had a parrot when I was little. He'd say, "The phone's for you."
I hope Linus feels better.
