Busy, busy...
May. 10th, 2004 04:46 pmHuh. I'm on holiday, so I've been super busy today. Ain't it always the way?
Went to the quack to have my blood pressure re-checked, after the 149/90 I clocked in last week after work. Which is high for a tiny 107lb slip of a girl like me. Today was 140/80, which is much better. It's the second figure that's important, apparently. So it proves my job is putting my blood pressure up. I could have told them that myself!
Then I went to the optometrist. I am long-sighted in my right eye and also have a stigmatism - or is it astigmatism - so I had to get glasses to try and stop my head and eyes hurting with all the computer screen gazing I do. Purple frames - very cool. I think they make me look intellectual yet slightly odball, which I like. They cost me $570, which I don't like.
After that, I took little rescue runt rat Bridget to see the vet. She has a tumour in her groin region. Rats are very prone to benign tumours in their mammary tissue, which apparently extends all over the body. The vet poked a syringe into the lump to see if it was an abscess, but nothing came out. Bridget tried to bite her. I would have, too, with a bloody great needle stuck in my tender regions! So she's booked in for a lumpectomy on Thursday. She's quite old now, 2 1/4, but still otherwise bright and happy, so it's worth attempting to get the thing out. Otherwise it will get big (fast!) and suck all the goodness out of her and she'll fade away to a sad, skinny end. I'd rather try to give her quality time, and if she doesn't make it through the op, at least she will go peacefully before she starts to suffer. Dammit, now I made myself cry! Here is a piccy of her after her rescue from the pet shop:

Tomorrow I would like to try to Wet'n'Forget my deck. Wet'n'Forget is a completely biodegradeable moss and mould killer. Spray it on, and when it rains, it activates to get the green slippery stuff off of whatever it's growing on. It's so plant friendly that lawn bowling clubs spray it on their greens, and it kills the moss but leaves the grass. However the forecast for the rest of the week is horrible, and I can't do it while it's raining or it'll wash straight off. I need a dry, calm day. Please.
It's the final of NZ Idol tonight. I want Michael to win, because he respects the melody when he sings. He's 17, with the voice of a 30 year old. He does U2 particularly well.

Ben, on the other hand, is rather delicious. Can't sing as well, but moves really well and is easy on the eye!

Now I go back to working on my Wesley video. It's making me giggle.
