My heart is broken
May. 19th, 2004 10:58 pmBridget has given up her struggle. After her tumour op, she fought bravely, and up until last night, I was hopeful she would recover. But tonight it's obvious that there is something else gravely wrong. Maybe she suffered a stroke under the anaesthetic, perhaps she has a brain tumour, or the one that was removed was cancerous and this has spread through her tiny little body. In any case, she has stopped eating and drinking. Even when I syringe water into her mouth she just lets it dribble over the side. She's gone very flat and cold, and keeps having little jerky bursts of movement, where she looks like she doesn't have control of her limbs. If she is still alive in the morning, I will take her to the vets and have her put out of her misery.
So tonight, I have kissed her, told her that I love her, and put her back in the big cage with her friends, so that she is not alone, and so they can say goodbye to her.
Goodnight, Bridget Midget, and safe journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
