It was Bridget's funeral today.

I picked her body up from the vets, where they kindly kept her in their special freezer. Yeah, I know it sounds yucky and callous, but it's much better than having her laying around the house... decomposing *shudder* She was wrapped in a polar fleece hammock for her burial. I took her to the Pets Garden of Remembrance in Albany, where all my other little deceased treasures are buried (except Jake - he was special and we had him cremated. He has a shrine on the sea chest in our living room...).

Dave and Jackie who own the Garden are wonderful. It's their own property - 20 hectares of hilly cow paddock, converted to the most fabulous gardens over the last 20 years. The trees are beautiful, and there's lots of wildlife and it's very peaceful. They helped me talk about her (they're great grief councellors), and popped her next in to Bart and Sarah. She loved Bart. The night I found him dead she was licking him, trying to wake him up.

After the burial I went to pay them, and they refused. Apparently the 10th one is free! Well, I'm the only person with 10 pets buried there, so I guess I've started a tradition...

I feel better now.

aww. That sounds like a great place, I never even knew that a pet burial ground existed.
10 time is free, hmm. Nice people :)
