Jun. 21st, 2003 08:51 pmI bought a new car today.
Well, it's not technically mine yet, they've accepted my offer, and as long as the AA check comes out fine, we're good to go. And the best thing? It's not costing me a cent. The money Mum is giving me from Grandad's will is covering it all. I'm so happy.
It's a lovely little car - a Toyota Platz. Which is an Echo, but from Japan. It has things that my last car didn't - automatic transmission, power steering, and air conditioning. It's silver, 1.5ltr, small but roomy inside (like The Tardis!) and I screwed a new set of tyres and a single CD player out of them. With 15% discount and a three year mechanical warranty, I feel I did extremely well for my money. It's 4 years old. Here is a link to a picture of what it looks like:
Toyota Echo
So I am pretty excited, but I have probably a week to wait for it to be checked, groomed, cd'd and tyred, during which I can say goodbye to Rocky, my trusty little '92 Corolla, which only the other week gave me my first mechanical scare in nine and a half years of driving.
Good news #2 - the All Blacks thumped Wales by 55-3. It was a fun game to watch, lots of free-flowing rugby, eight tries, men in tight black shirts (no protective padding!) rippling and flowing all over the field (mmmmmmmmm)...
