The countdown begins!
Oct. 14th, 2004 09:31 amYeah!
Eight days until my cousin arrives from England! This may not seem like a big deal to most, but when you've lived your entire life on the other side of the planet from all of your relatives except your mother, father, and sister, having family come visit is huge. Also, she's applying for residency (which apparently is hard to get here, unless you're an Afghani refugee or a terrorist), and will be living with my sister. They are both approximately 30, both single, and both looking for Mr Right. We were going to name my sisters' house "Spinster Cottage". Lock up your men, people of Auckland. Nobody will be safe once these two get going *g* So everyone please think good thoughts for Gayle and her residence application. We need her here and she needs to not ever have to go back to England.
This means it's also eight days until my holiday. Nothing exciting. Ferrying Gayle around. Maybe catching some rays through that hole in the ozone layer (which has apparently shrunk to a mere 24 million km this year). I have a date with a waterblaster and a very slimy deck. And if all goes well, my Stargate S7 dvd's will arrive... D'oh! They're getting delivered to work! Might have to make a special trip in, in that case...
I also have a sooooper sekrit project which I may or may not start. It depends on the weather.

Date: 2004-10-13 01:56 pm (UTC)It must be hard to be away from your family and your mates. I think it doesn't matter where you are in the world, if you have people close to you that can share things, it makes life so much better.

Date: 2004-10-13 04:21 pm (UTC)And, just by the by, I love the way you and I can cross the Tasman any time we damn well want. We don't even need visas! We can buy property and take jobs! Thousands of Kiwis come over here and go on the dole! ;) It's a lovely reciprocal relationship!
Ew, Spinster is such an ugly word, don't you think? You should just call them "Bridget" and "Jones". :)
