No, NO! Casey is awesome. Anthony drives me absolutely batshit with his rehearsed-since-childhood "emotion" filled head-turning and eye-closing crap. I'm not denying the guy has a wonderful voice, but he's over-trained, cookie cutter, and so full of his own entitlement that I didn't want him to win just out of sheer spite. :)
Besides, we love Casey. Jo actually voted for her over a hundred times. o_O
I have to agree that Anthony did overdo the performances a bit, and the pointing got on my nerves, but I thought he was the better singer.
And what annoyed me about Casey was, all throughout the show, when they interviewed her about her experiences, she always pointed out the negative side of it, and looked so blimmin' miserable. I wanted to shake her and yell "you're so lucky!".
Either way, they'll both have careers. And as my cousin pointed out, it's almost better not to come first, because you get more chance to make the album you want, rather than one they've already put together for you.
I hear you on that second point. It's kind of sad that a metal-loving teenage goth will have to put out an albumn full of power-ballad cast-offs from second rate songwriters. But you must not have had Inside Idol screened over there. Casey proved to be a hysterically funny, very down-to-earth girl who quite often sat back and laughed at herself and was quite overawed at what was happening to her. That's what made me warm to her in the first place.
I'm not denying that Anthony has the technically better voice. I just think there are forty thousand of him in the world already, and everybody knows he'll get signed in two seconds flat. I've just never seen another Casey, y'know? :)
Nah, we didn't get Inside Idol, or the Up Close And Personal show, which pissed me off. I do agree Casey had a unique voice, and very good. I hope she gets to write some of her own stuff.
At the end of the day, I didn't like either of this year's finalists as much as Guy or Shannon, or even Paulini (who I LOVED). And I wish Ricki-Lee had been in the final, that would have been interesting. She just oozed joy whenever she performed.
I agree with that. I'd written Ricki-Lee off purely on her looks, and the first time she sang, I remember sitting up straight and going, "Helloooo!" She was always note-perfect, and seemed to really love what she was doing. I'm sure she'll get signed.
I loved Paulini too. :) Do not like her current musical choices, but her voice is beautiful.

I figured you guys would have all seen it on telly. It ran horribly overtime and I was up until 12.30am. That's why I was so grumpy, staying up until the wee smalls on a Monday morning and then not getting the result I was hoping for.

We didn't get it live over here (three hours behind Sydney) - didn't start till 7.30 and I was so bored by 8.30 I came online. Silly me.
But... yay, Casey! The girl has talent and charisma and passion. I just pity her having to turn out some plastic album in under a fortnight. *And* sing that bloody awful 'single' which sounds like a hotch-potch of other songs to me.
