I am watching Season 6 of Stargate, also know as the Great Daniel-less Void. I watched 8 eps today, trying to get it over with as quickly as possible. Like ripping off a band-aid. Since I saw Meridian, all the Daniel bits make me cry. I cried at the end of Abyss. Hell, I even cried at the end of the Prometheus one, where Thor showed up (since Michael Shanks does his voice).

I need professional help.

Preferably that of an archaeologist.

Season 7 is worth waiting for :)= Or suffering season 6 for...

It's what's keeping me going, sitting there all pristine in my bookcase, just waiting to be watched. :hugs Season 7: All that Daniel-y goodness... :happy sigh:

Only 9 more episodes to go (and, hey, Daniel's in two of those anyway!).

I still haven't gotten around to watching all of s6. I watched the first four seasons on broadcast TV (running a year behind Showtime), then the switch from Showtime to Sci Fi happened. So that left me with the option of skipping all of season five and knowing (thanks to online fandom) that six was going to be mostly Daniel-free. I didn't like that option.

I did watch Abyss though, then when I heard MS was returning, I watched the last 1/3 of the season, then the first 1/3 in repeats. Never have gotten around to watching the middle section. I have no real interest in it, even though I could watch it at any time. I guess I'd rather just ignore it and move on to bettr things. There's been a few times things in s6 were referenced in s7 and 8 that left me scratching my head because I didn't know the details, but nothing major that I can tell.

Maybe I'll have to use your band-aid method and just watch it all as quickly as possible and get it over with. But keep in mind that s7 not only has Daniel-y goodness, there's nekkid Daniel-y goodness. And Jack telling Daniel to go to his Happy Place. [sigh]

It's weird, the team dynamic just feels wrong without Daniel. I don't mind Jonas, but there's a big Daniel-shaped hole in everything.

The ep "The Cure" (where they discover tretonin) just screamed out for him. I really enjoyed it, but all the time they were in those ruins, and when they met the queen that had founded the Tok'ra, all I could think was... Daniel would be going mental with excitement here. And I miss the way he translated stuff, a few faltering words followed by a rush of information.

It was funny to see the Prometheus, knowing what goes on in that bridge in Season 8 *g*

Anyway, I will get through it. I spent too long holding out for Season 5 (even though I could have skipped ahead to 6 and 7) to go skipping eps now. I'm over halfway there, and then, as you said... Nekkid!Daniel. And I can't wait for the 'Happy Place' bit. I hadn't heard about that. You're not trying to turn me into a slasher here, are you? ;o)

Funny you should put it that way. I kept saying there was a Daniel shaped hole that they shoved Jonas into and liberally applied spackle, hoping we wouldn't notice. :)

And I can't wait for the 'Happy Place' bit. I hadn't heard about that.

It's a brief moment, but it hearkens back to earlier Jack/Daniel moments.

You're not trying to turn me into a slasher here, are you? ;o)

Moi? [innocent look]

LOL! You're right. It's not the role he played that I miss, because Jonas does all the translatey stuff. It's the little things - the expressive eyebrows, the lip-lick. The silent suffering hidden under the calm exterior. Jonas is just too damn happy. I like my men angsty *g*

Word. Jonas way just waaaaaay too happy all the time. I kept thinking it was either a front and he was really spying on the SGC for some reason, or else Kelowna was a planet full of weasels on drugs. :)

Awww. The end of Abyss makes me cry, too. Oddly, I discovered the show during the re-runs of season six (tuned in after MUCH prodding from Miss ConradCaineFortune), and it was Abyss that hooked me into going back and watching earlier episodes. Powerful stuff that only got better when I knew the history behind it.

Oh, waaaah! at your icon. Funnily, Abyss didn't make me cry the first time I saw it - when said evil temptress of many names sent it to me, shortly after I discovered what was going to happen to Dr Jackson (spoiled myself by looking at screencaps) and fell into a deep depressive funk. She thought it might cheer me up. And at the time, it did. But now I've actually seen Meridian, it tears my heart out.

You too? That Julie, she has a lot to answer for. She goaded me and goaded me to watch, and bombarded me with photos of a certain archaeologist, and even sourced me the Season 1 DVD's, and dammit, now I'm hooked so bad, I don't think I'll ever recover. Damn her! :shakes fist: ;o)

But what a way to go *g*

Wow, I can imagine it would have been pretty bewildering, not knowing any of the backstory. But who can resist the Oatmeal Sweater of Lurve? You didn't stand a chance.

Heh, heh, heh... It's been such fun watching you newbies getting hooked into SG-1.

Fan from the first ep, heck actually since the movie.

Liked the movie. Actually watched the first ep when it came on the telly, all those years ago, and thought it was complete poo *g* Obviously my tastes have since refined :o)

I'm just happy to be in a fandom that hasn't been cancelled yet! I usually turn up to the party late, getting all enthused while the Sword of Damocles is dangling over the show and fans are leaving in droves... Hope I'm not a jinx ;o)

"Liked the movie."

Me too, that's what I get for being a Kurt Russell fan. *g* And being a RDA fan is what got me into SG-1, so I guess you could say I've always had a thing for Jack.

It actually took about three goes to see the movie in its entirety, since they kept screening it late at night, and I always saw the first half hour or so and then had to go to bed. One night I just decided to sit up and watch the whole thing. And funnily enough, I really liked the Daniel character, even before Shanks got hold of it.

One comment made during the most recent movie viewing at crazymadjo's was made by planet_mel: if Daniel hadn't been jonesing for coffee, he would have never seen the newspaper and figured it out. Daniel's okay, I guess (ducking just in case something gets thrown at me) but he just doesn't do for me what the Colonel, er General does. Woof! But then I always did like older guys. *G*
